The Department of Veterans Affairs, in collaboration with the University of Southern Indiana, and Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center, is sponsoring a Mental Health Summit and Workshop for both veterans and health professionals on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 to support the mental health needs of veterans and their families.
The Mental Health Summit will be from 8 a.m. to noon and will include a resource fair for veterans at the USI location, along with presentations by veterans on mental health recovery, women’s recovery, and employment and education.
A workshop for health professionals and veterans will be from 1-4 p.m. CDT. Topics for the afternoon include “Addressing Addictions in Special Populations,” “Military and Veteran Families’ Issues and Concerns,” and “PTSD: When Past is Present.” Free continuing education units will be available for USI afternoon attendees.

This event will be held in the Health Professions Building on the USI campus beginning at 8 a.m. CDT, with simulcasts via live stream at two locations: Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Indiana, and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
